The Eternal Security of the Believer
The Bible
teaches the eternal security of the believer,
but not the eternal security of
the unbeliever.
If someone acts
as an unbeliever (ongoing sin), God treats them as an unbeliever. If we believe stepping on the brakes
of the car will save us from harm, but do not step on the brakes, what
happens? What if we do not put the
brakes on sin (repent)? (Luke 13:1-5) Jesus said that
those who don’t keep His commands are doomed (Matt 7:21-27, 25:31-46; John 5:26-29;
Rev 3:15-17; see 1 John 2:3-4). If
someone does not believe that, he does not believe Jesus. He is not a believer.
Demons
believe Jesus is “the
Holy One of God” and “the Son of God” (Mark 1:24, 3:11). Demons believe the gospel that Jesus
is the “way of salvation”. (Acts
16:16-18).
Since demons believe in Jesus, are they saved? Why not?
When Jesus says
“he who believes in Me has everlasting life” (John 6:47), Jesus means
those who act in belief are saved and those who do not are lost (Matt 7:21-27). This is really just common sense. Folks that willfully sin are not God’s
friends, but are opposing Him, so how can He accept them? (John 15:14; Hebrews
10:26-27; Romans 2:5-11)

======= Scriptures (NKJV)
=======
Matthew 7:24 “Therefore
whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise
man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods
came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it
was founded on the rock.
26 “But
everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a
foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the
floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great
was its fall.”
James 1:22 But
be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
